Something!

With the last day of the AGS release something activity upon us, I have released the demo of City. I've never released a demo before, so it's certainly an interesting time, and I have to thank qptain Nemo for writing some music for it for me, Sebastian Pfaller for writing me some Neo Cyber-Goth poetry for it and a whole bunch of people for testing it for me and pointing out my bad decisions and mistakes.

For you, though, there now exists the option to try out this little slice of the game and see what you think. Your feedback is most definitely welcomed!

Yay, a new game!

Ben, will the demo be part of the final game or is it supposed to be a separate introduction?

The demo is intended to be the actual introduction to the game, and therefore part of the final game. The basic idea is to get to know the main character and the setting before starting the game proper.

Hope you enjoy :)

nice demo.

Too bad there are bug with the phone numbers. When you call the church, you'll get Bright01 (not sure about the name) lines, and when you try to call the Bright01 company, the game froze when you pick a line.

I think you already know this problem, but better to tell you ^_^

When do you think the full game will be available ?

Thanks!

The bug has been pointed out to me and should be fixed. Thanks for pointing it out though!

As for when the full game will be available, I have absolutely no idea :D

Kind words as ever, my friend!

I really liked the fact the world seemed a little more alive than the average adventure game (like it felt the player was in it, rather than built around the player)

That was a big part of what I am going for, glad to hear it is working :)

Is it just me, or is the idea of a machine remembering my DNA forever extremely unsettling?

Beautiful as always, and with a very unique tone. Sweet demo indeed, Ben!

Tough, Corvidae is a class-plural form of the noun Corvus, so it's kinda of strange for a personal name.

Hello, i think it's a grate demo. Especially the atmosphere, sounds and colours. This pixel-style drawing is amazing. Hope to see this game :)

yay, liked the demos, especially the spray painting, it made me feel like a criminal. blade runner-ish music is great as well.

But there seems to be one bug, when I want to confess to the church on the phone I get the dialog from the Blah20 surveillance cameras.

Now I'm trying to figure out the seconds path.

LOVED this demo. Keep on making it! The overall ambiance of the game is perfectly acomplished and that makes you dive into the story, which is what makes it great :)

This demo is fantastic. It reminds me of my favorite games from my childhood... the kind that no one in the industry seems interested in writing any more. I hope you keep working on it.

I noticed one typo, I think. It may have been intentional and I just didn't get it, but while talking to Gray the first time, I have the option of saying, "Well I better look for this Osprey." It comes out correct when she actually says it, though.

Great work.

This was very enjoyable. It's really made me more open to point-and-click adventures, which I used to avoid. Scanning the past blog posts, I'm beginning to really look forward to the release of the full version. I like how the game promises to be less linear, and that most of the puzzles will be optional.

One think that bugged me (I guess it's the nickpicky Latinist in me.) was the use of a word with a plural ending - "Corvae" - as an individual's name. Personally, I think "Corva" or "Corvus" would have been better.

I like the demo, reminds me of "Blade Runner" too, and not only the movie but also the game from the 90s.

There is a bug when you get the card out of the trash. I got a bottle, and when I drank it, it turned into the card.

@Runescape Gold - Ha ha! That is the funniest blog spam I have ever read. It took me a while to get it. I wonder who they are catering to here?

Ben - Great demo. A playable city with jobs and money would be amazing but sounds like a lot of work. The characters kind of remind me of ~airwave~ and how much I want to play it again. But this time with a different story and different puzzles ;)
