Wow! Looking really good and i'm intrigued by the last scene, i'll have to watch it again to see if I can figure out how it got to that point.
I've only just discovered your work thanks to my Indiegames feed, so i've a bit of catching up to do. I really like your backgrounds (and kudos for the tutorial btw).
I've got a small wacom tablet too that i've only recently started messing around with after it lounging in a corner for years. Actually, here is my first creative hack job with it, a bit of concept art for a wolf game we're doing at uni (prepare yourself, the green's a bit overwhelming!).
Very simplistic and I literally hadn't used a tablet before, but i'm pleased with the sunlight on the trees=)
I have my own concept for a game from an earlier piece of coursework and i'm just getting started with AGS (Another neglected thing that's been sitting there looking at me for years), so i'm hoping to have a bash at a painterly style with my wacom and i'll definately make use of your tutorial, thanks.
Anyway, enough ramblings from me, good stuff, and I look forward to more updates=)
P.S. How did you find Ghost in the Shell? We have quite a bit of an anime library here - mostly major box office stuff - but I can suggest some stuff if you like. I just can't resist the urge to plug my favourite series Cowboy Bebop;-)
Igor - Thank you! And thanks for the mention on HardyDev :)
Rambo - Thanks, I appreciate it.
Learning to use a tablet is no simple feat, I had to switch myself from pixels to brushes which took some major leaps (and I still paint in a pixelly style) but is totally worth it.
Good luck putting it together with AGS, hopefully we'll see something from you around the blocks at some point.
As for Ghost in the Shell, I liked it very much, enough to purchase the second movie. I've heard of Cowboy Bebop before but don't really know much about it. Feel free to make recommendations, I'm totally new to anime and would love some more indications of good films to check out.
Shimbo - Thank you :)
Actually, it is posted on the AGS forums, just not in the usual place. What can I say, I'm an unusual guy.
Gnome - And more thanks to you, my friend, both for your most kind words and mentioning it on your blog as well :)
As well as the series - GITS: Stand Alone Complex - there's also a third film called The Solid State Society. I believe it's a continuation of the series (which I haven't seen yet), but I've got the film and found it easy enough to follow on its own.
You suggested you might like some anime recommendations, well, heh, my partner thinks i'm crazy for doing this, but i've typed you up a synopsis for all the anime on our shelf=S
It wasn't too much trouble since I intend to write up all my favourites anyway when I finally have time to overhall my website. I shamelessly borrowed from wikipedia and Amazon when memory failed me anyway. Hopefully it'll give you some ideas.
Really loving the backgrounds in particular. Looks like a very interesting game, particularly due to the setting. Looking forward to finding out more :)
Rambo - Thanks for the recommendations! I've gone and ordered a few more animes; just got Metropolis today, and am getting a few more soon. I'm still unsure about some of the ones on your list, but I'll certainly keep considering them!
Alistair - Thanks! This setting is something I've wanted to work with for a while, and it's good to be trying a new style (especially compared to my stuff in the past)

Looks fantastic and quite a bit darker than I imagined. Absolutely fantastic.

Anime Recommendations

Oh, and if you like indie animations, I recommend Minushi by Tyler Gibb =)

No worries, you're welcome. I'm always on the look out for new anime myself but I'm quite fussy, I don't like anything too cutesy.
Best thing to do is watch a few episodes on YouTube to get an idea before you buy.
I sat down and watched a big heap of preview episodes a while back... and disliked most of the things I looked at haha.
Still, I've got enough on my "To look at list" now to keep me going for a while. I agree that anything too cutesy is not really what I'm looking for.
Metropolis is great, btw. Very intense and well written/animated!
Whoa, Ben! This looks awesome! Congratulations on embarking on your first large-scale project.
I take it that's northern hemisphere summer 2010 that we will get to play it? :)
